5 Tips To A Productive Day

1. Don’t Check Your Emails, Social Media, or Read News

When you wake up in the morning, your first habit may be to check your phone. You go straight to Instagram, Facebook, your work emails, or the news. You are half asleep and your mind is now bombarded with peoples life, work tasks, or despair as you read through all that is going on in today’s world. You are polluting your mind and your thought process is immediately hijacked. Take a moment for YOU. Allow your mind to settle. Get a journal and jot down your thoughts. Write what you are grateful for. If you believe in a divine power, pray. Let this be the time where you connect with yourself. Bring peace into your day. If you don’t feel like you have time, try to wake up earlier.

2. Make Your Bed

Accomplish the first task of the day. It’s an easy step and I promise it will make a difference. If you can master the little things, you’ll be a pro at everything else. Making your bed will make your room look tidy and can inspire you to keep all else organized. If your bed is nicely made, you won’t want to go back to sleep. Once I make my bed, I feel like my bed is telling me “Now Get Out and Be Great!” It’s your first accomplishment of the day. Let’s start the morning right!

3. Plan Your Day

Wake up early enough where planning your day isn’t rushed. Make yourself a nice hot cup of coffee/or tea. (make sure to drink some water first! warm is always better) and plan out your day. I like to do this with mellow music playing in the background. Set your goals for the day. What do you want to accomplish? Planning your day will help you prioritize your most important tasks, give you guidance, and help you save time. When you know what you have to do, your mind is programming itself for success.

4. Limit Your Phone Checking Time

It’s so easy to want a distraction in the middle of your work day, though sometimes checking your phone takes longer than we planned for. You went from one text to another, to your social media platforms, to Amazon, to who knows where else. The point is, we can’t get off track. Give yourself rules. Teach yourself discipline. Maybe you read a chapter of a book, instead of mindlessly scrolling through your IG feed, Twitter, Amazon, or Memes. It’s okay to scroll, but too much of anything does more harm than good. We made it this far, let’s keep the productivity going.

5. Stay Active

Whether it’s working out, yoga, taking a walk, or meditating, staying active is crucial. Exercise has been shown to improve your mood, increase the production of endorphins, and reduce anxiety. Exercising also increases your energy levels and is great for our health. We only have one life, one body, let’s keep it healthy and strong!
